I got 5 moles removed from my ace about 5 weeks ago, and they scabbed, fell off and then were red for a bit. Now they are like a browny colour, like they were originally, still a bit red, but a tinge of brown is present. Does that mean that they are growing back or something?? I was in the sun rarely with out sunscreen, but i had the dressings on for a week and applied the cream for about 2-3 weeks. Any tips or suggestions?

    Mole removal scar?
OK, i had a mole on my thigh that i wanted removed so i got some natural mole removal cream and after about 3 weeks it was gone, But it has left a red mark where the mole was removed from. I looked on the manufacturers website and it showed you the removal process in pictures, there was a picture that was labelled healing and it looked the same as what my leg looked like so i assumed that the skin was healing but it has been around 8 months since the mole was removed and still no change to the skin. So i emailed the manufacturer about a week ago and they suggested a healing cream like neosporin.I just want to see if anybody else has experienced the same sort of thing and if anyone has any advice on what i should do.

    • ANSWER:
This is the most effective and quickest treatment. Using any oil, rub or massage it over and over many times each day. If you do that for 30 min total (can be in more than one session) you will see significant fading in 1 to 2 weeks. Keep it up and it will completely fade overtime.

Mole Removal Scar, its ugly help me!!?
I had a mole removed from my back a couple years ago, and since the mole had a white ring around it (I know, scary, cancer?) my doctor seriously took a huge piece of my skin out.

Its completely healed, flat, but still a little pinkish and was wondering how I can turn that scar into my normal Caucasian (white) skin color?

    • ANSWER:
Try to buy some scar creams. Or even try getting a sun tan,.. maybe it will even out with you skin.

Or if nothing works.. even if your a guy or girl... buy some concealer of your skin color and put some on it..

If nothing works use other options..

    After mole removal scar?!?
I got my mole removed like two weeks ago. I've been using this cream the dermatologist gave me for a week, and the week is over by today! My scar, it is a little white?! Is this going to go away? Fade? My parents said its fine and it will go away because it is not fully healed. . ?

Why is it like this color for my scar right now?

    • ANSWER:
You've just finished the treatment so it's normal to have the scar, i guess. In many cases, the scar usually heal or at least fade away after some times. Try applying aloe vera gel or olive oil on it. It helps accelerate the process. Avoid direct exposure to sun. And don't peel off the scab if any, that would definitely worsen the problem.

Mole removal question: Red spot is turning pink so is it still healing after three months?

I had mole surgery three months ago. The area from where it was removed had a red scar much bigger than the original mole. It has now gone to a light pink colour now but I was wondering if its still healing. Or am I stuck with this pink thing there forever?

    • ANSWER:
well i had mine shaved off about same time.

i dont think it'll stay pink forever it might just be healing still.

Mole removal scar - slight hole?
Had a mole removed using laser, and doc said that because it was lasered i dont need to reapply a bandaid over it once the original falls off (which happened today, 2 days later).

Now i see that where the mole used to be there is a indentation, kind of a hole the size of what-used-to-be-the-mole, instead of just flat skin. Will this go away/heal over time? im realy worried cause i dont wanna look like a zombie with a hole in my chest...

    any help is appreciated

Scar after mole removal on face?
So yeah I had a mole removed on my face(it wasn't deep in depth much at all LUCKILY so there's no indentation or anything..) and it's healed great. One thing though, it's still a little red (like a little reddish dot). It was more red before and I think as time is passing by it's becoming lighter.. But i was just wondering will the scar/place where I got my mole removed always be reddish - or is it still healing slowly to become a normal fleshy color? I hear it takes at least 6 months to a year for the scar to become normal again? Thanks for the input in advance.

    Healing after mole removal?
hi i just had a mole removed from my face about 6 weeks ago
the plastic surgeon used 5 dissolvable stitches.

right now the area is still kinda red.. and not only is there an incision line, but i can still see where all the stitches were placed. (its like the stitches left white lines.. but surrounded by redness)

im just wondering how long it takes for the redness to subside, and the area to become fully healed..
and will the places where the stitches were placed fade away as well?
And are there any scar creams out there i can buy to help aid the healing process?

I know those are alot of questions, but im starting to get really worried bout how its looking at the moment..
I really appreciate your responses and help!

    healing after mole removal?
i just had a mole on the side of my nose removed yesterday morning. i really don't want a big scar, but i'm not sure how to keep it really clean!

i put neosporin on it, and i had a band-aid on it but when i took it off i was scared it would peal the scab off, so i haven't put another one on.

Will it make it worse if i don't have a band-aid on it? Is there anything else i can put on it to help it? they said the scab would fall off in 3-5 days, but will there be redness or anything else noticeable? HELP!!

    • ANSWER:
If you leave it exposed you risk the chance of infection. As long as the soft part of the band-aid is big enough to fit over the area, it should not peel the scab off. You could also try gauze. It will be red for a little while, until the area is fully healed.

    • ANSWER:
usually after a week from that minor operation, the surgeon will schedule you for a suture removal. so that any further infection will be prevented. after it has been removed, the redness will eventually disappear after 48hours top. it's better to ask your doctor for a skin cream that will help speed up the healing process, like calmoseptine ointment.

Healing process of mole removal on face?
Yesterday I got 3 moles removed from my face. One on my cheek, one on my chin and one by my eye. They were done by a plastic surgeon I was put under with the anesthetic and he put disolvable stitches on the one by my eye and regular ones on the other 2 (those stitches are under the skin). They weren't huge moles, only about 1/8 of an inch. He told me I have to leave the dressings (surgical tape) on for another week which are all bloody and looks awful and the stitches have to stay in for 2 weeks. I have a little bit of a black eye from the one that was so close to my eye and my face is a little bit swollen. I didn't expect it to be such a long, ugly and painful process because I got a mole taken off my back and that was about a week healing time. It was like nothing. I'm paranoid because I start college in a week and a half and don't want to look horrible, I actually have to go to a couple days of class with stitches. I was just wondering if others have gone through something similar and could let me know what to expect it to look like when the dressings come off? when the stitches come out? how long does it take to heal? Some do's and don't's? and tips to make the healing process quicker and the scars to be less noticeable. The doctor didn't give me much information about this stuff, he certainly didn't tell me i would look like this, and i was too out of it to ask questions after my surgery. And please no horror stories I'm already worried enough haha. thanks!

    mole removal?
Has anybody had a mole removal from the face and ,if so, what method was used and how long did the scars take to heal completely. Also, what did your scars end up looking like? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. The more the better.

    • ANSWER:
It was a couple years ago. They froze my mole off under my chin, it took about one or two weeks to heal(if I remember correctly). It has a slight dimple there now. But each person is different with how their body heals. You might not even have much of a mark left. They have scar creams now-they did not have them as much for over-the-counter. Medical things have changed though they might just lasar it off-that might leave you with barely a mark.

      Good luck.

Why won't this scar from a mole removal go away?
Hi, about a half or so a year ago, I went in to a dermatologist and had 3 small moles removed from my cheek. The doctor had me come back again and dug deeper(I guess to remove any melanin cells remaining) on one of the moles. She said within a few months, all would heal well, and eventually, any trace of the scars would go away. However, it's been half a year, and there is this pink colored scar on my cheek that is even more noticeable than the mole was itself. The reason I had them removed in the first place was because they were noticeable and lowered my self-esteem. Now I have this pink crater on the side of my face. I was going through pictures the other night and looking back, I would much rather have my moles back than have these pink scars. What can I do from here? I've tried scar cream, but it doesn't seem to be working either.
I am currently using the Mederma cream. Also, can scars be lasered off? We originally planned on having the moles lasered, but the doctor suckered us into having them razored off so they could be sent in to the path lab "just in case."

    • ANSWER:
it can take years for facial scars to fade, and they never entirely go away. Your dermatologist lied if she told you anything different.

How can i remove scars caused by mole removal?
I removed 2 moles about 3-4 years ago. They were not cancerous but i wanted to remove them because they were getting bigger and did not look to pretty. I would be happy that they are removed but it left ugly scars. I have tried bio-oil, vitamin E capsules, cream from my dermatologist that is to remove scars but they have no worked, maybe only a little bit. I do not know why, but these 2 scars really bother me and make me self conscious and make me not want to wear tank tops and dresses. I have asked my dermatologist a couple of times what my options are for the scar, and he said that the i could go to a plastic surgeon and he could cut out my scar which would make a smaller scar, but he said that he thinks i would not heal good because i didn't heal how i was expected with the original mole removal procedure. Then he just said to give it time: l Time is not going to heal my scars. They are the same color as my skin but not the same texture as my skin. Please give me ideas and options, if i got rid of these scars it would help my self esteem quite a bit.

      (1) Clean the nevus and the area around it, use a toothpick (do not use a cotton stick to tip or wipe) to mix the liquid and sediment, and then tip a little amount of the mole remover and apply it onto the middle of the nevus. The area would turn to white colour after 1 minute. Use alcohol or water to clean the mole area after 10 minutes (If you tip the amount of mole remover properly, you don't have to clean). The mole would peel off (May help with finger) in 8 to 20 days. Repeat the process again until the mole peeling off if the colour of the nevus is dark. (it is suggested applying the liquid to nevus on hands or legs first to see the results and learn to control the usage before applying the liquid to other areas of the body, DON'T TRY on FACE for the first time!)

    • ANSWER:
I had a really small mole removed off my nose but they "scraped" it out rather than freezing it. There is a small "crater" look to it but it's not too bad. It looks a little darker than the rest of my skin so I need to use a little concealer on it.

How long after having mole removal surgery should I wait before lifting weights?
I am desperately wanting to start my workout plan! The doctor told me not to workout for a little bit. I can't get a hold of him and I want to know when I can start working out. I do a little bit of cardio here and there, but I want to do actual heavy lifting.

The doctor said I run the risk of the scars not healing properly. The scars are about an inch long and they're red.

I had the surgery a few weeks ago.

    • ANSWER:
It is probably ok to do some (keyword) heavy lifting as far as the exercise depending on the area involved as far as where the mole was removed from. However, I would recommend not trying to do anything with the weights until you can get a hold of your doctor to see what they say.

Mole removal that won't scar. Any advice?
I went to a dermatologist in August to get a few moles removed. He told me he wanted to do the one near my neck and the one on my arm first before we took off the one I really wanted, which was on my face. This was to see how the other ones would heal. He numbed them and cut them off and now they both have scarred. The one of my neck is small, but the one on my arm bothers me. I actually think the mole may be growing back. I really want the one on my face taken off, but I don't want to have a scar instead. The dermatologist said if I went to him to get it taken off, he'd numb it, cut it off, and may need to put stitches in it. Is there doctors that would do it differently, that wouldn't lead to leaving a scar?

    • ANSWER:
I was in the same position as you, well sorta, I had more moles I wanted to remove, but 1 of them was on my face. I got quoted several hundreds of dollars by the Dr. and wasn't even guaranteed to remove the mole completely.

So being unsatisfied with that, I researched several other methods. I found there are a few at home mole remover products available, but that most of them contained harsh acids. For me this wasn't going to work, as one of my moles was in a sensitive area, and well acid wasn't going there at all.

I found a product called Dermatend, and all I can say is WOW. This product has helped me to remove a total of 6 moles from my body, including the 1 on my face, and all without any scarring too. It was awesome the 1st mole I removed was gone in 5 days, and the rest of them took no longer than 10 days to be removed.

There is a healing balm that is sold with it to help prevent scarring. Oh yeah not to mention it comes with a 100% money back guarantee too.

How long does it take a mole removal to heal?
I'm 17 years old and for the past year, my mole (next to my right eye where there is a lot of skin) got bigger and darker. My doctor told me that I should get it removed, just to be on the save side. She referred me to a plastic surgeon and I have an appointment to get it cut out (and have stitches put in) on September 14th. Since it is my face, I'm extremely scared that the scar will be huge. The plastic surgeon said that she will use some sort of sheet (I think silicone?) to reduce the scarring. My concern is that, its my senior year...and the deadline to submit senior pictures is sometime in the first week of October. I've been waiting forever to be able to get pretty senior pictures. If I wait until the last week of September to take the pictures, will I be able to cover the scar with concealer or makeup? How long will it take for the mole to heal?

    • ANSWER:
Scarring is unpredictable. By two weeks after the surgery you may still have redness, bruising or pigmentation changes. This area tends to heal well, but no one can promise. Stitches are usually removed in 3-7 days. You may be best off doing the pictures first and photoshopping out the mole to match what you will look like.

    • ANSWER:
Keloid is a real problem. Especially on the face or other exposed areas. there is no much you can do before surgery. Although, I might be wrong, maybe be there is a leaf or some weird remedy out there which I do not recommend. Now, listen..plastic surgeons are experts in these cases and prediposition to Keloids formation. They are jelous about their work and take pride in leaving the cut site as normal as possible. They will follow up and if signs of bad scarring is noted, they take action. With dermatologist is a different ball game. Some will care for cosmetics. And you should care for cosmetics, yes.

    mole removal surgery?
hi...I was wondering what the scar would look like after having mole removal surgery on the nose and near the eye area. I heal relatively well after scarring, but the moles are relatively large (probably the size of the eraser on a normal wooden pencil) and raised. So I'm not too sure about this. Would it be better to just leave the moles as they are or have the surgery done? Also, would it be better to go to a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist for this?
    Thank you!

I only have 5 more days to keep the stitches in so I am scared that it is going to look this way when the stitches come out. Does anyone have any experience with facial mole removal?

I bet your surgeon already told you that it will heal fine, but you are still not satisfied with the answer from the professional physician that you trusted for that procedure, and instead you ask unknown people for advice. Very smart.

    Mole removal questions..?
So i have a mole near my nose that I have always been very self concious of. I'm 21 now and am wanting to get it removed but have a few questions. First, like I said I am very self concious and don't even want to bring up the removal with my boyfriend or coworkers becuse it's embarassing. how do i get over that embarassment and be comfortable with talking about it? Also, how long does it take to heal? Is there scabbing? I don't want to walk around with a bandaid on my face for weeks. Another concern is scarring. Obviously moles are not attractive but scars aren't either. How noticeable is scarring after removal? Last question, would it be covered by insurance? I also have two moles on my chest that I want to get removed, I read that body mole removals are usually covered but facial ones are not because it's considered cosemetic. Is that true? Thanks for your answers :)

    • ANSWER:
A mole removal is nothing to be embarrassed or feel uncomfortable about. Im sure your boyfriend knows you well enough to know that this is something that you need to do. If your co-workers make a big deal out of it (which they wont) you could always just tell a little fib and say you had to get it removed for "Medical Reasons". But i think you should be honest with everyone in your life. Every single person has something about themselves that they hate or wish to could change, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about.

The amount of pain afterward varies, and depends on the method used. After a mole is removed, a scab will develop and then heal within 1-2 weeks. Any redness around the area should disappear within 2-4 weeks.
Immediately after surgery, you should avoid swimming, dish washing, and other activities that might dampen the treated area. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to avoid any possible complications or delayed healing.
Applying sunscreen to the treated area may help keep the scar from darkening. Most scars slowly fade with time.

A common condition that can occur after the excision procedure is scarring. Some scars fade away, (or you can use vitamin E oil or scar-fading cream) but some can be permanent. Scars can be eliminated through skin resurfacing or other scar revision procedures

    Mole removal question? 10 points?
Ok so I have this mole on My cheek, it's about the size of a quarter, maybe smaller. I'm getting it removed in a week, because my dermatologist said it's unhealthy and cancerous, so I have no choice.

Anyways, I'll make a list of questions I have.
    1. How long will it take to heal completely?
    2. Around when can I start to swim in chlorine water?
    3. When can I start putting concealer in the scar?
    4. How big would the scar probably be?
    5. Are there any creams or products to help the scar heal so it wont be as visible?
    6. How can I make sure I don't get infections on the scar, or to keep it healing properly?

Thank you! :) im a 16 year old girl if that matters.

    • ANSWER:
If your dermatologist is concerned that it might be cancerous, then he/she will most likely cut the mole out (as oppose to freezing it), so that they can have it analyzed (pathology).
Time of healing varies from person to person, it will depend on how big the incision/cut is. As far as putting anything on the incision/scar, it would be best to keep it clean and dry until it's completely healed; this is also the best way to prevent the wound from getting infected.

    aftercare mole removal question?

How long does it take a scar that you cut shaving to heal?
I had mole removal surgery on my neck over a year ago. But 3 weeks ago I cut my scar while shaving and it created a huge spot on the scar, after a week or so the spot popped and died down, but half of my scar is still red and slightly raised. How long will it take to go back to normal and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing?

    • ANSWER:
Definitely put neosporin or some other antibiotic on it to avoid infection and don't try to pop or touch it! Avoid shaving it as well

How to improve dents/holes created by recent mole removal surgery?
I am Indian, and have average brown skin. I recently had moles removed using radiowave treatment (it's not a great treatment as advertised). I avoided fast healing using healing gel etc. to stop a scab forming for a week as suggested by the surgeon. Eventually a scab did form but came off too early. Two of the mole scars are now holes/pits. It has been five weeks now, but I doubt it's healing still. But I'm worried these holes might become permanent. I have a tube of Kelo-Cote. Is it worth putting this on the holes or should I wait until it has become normal (if they do become normal)? What I don't want is Kelo-Cote to restrict the growth of my skin in these holes (i.e. will it inhibit collagen growth?). Is that a way to promote growth to fill the hole. Please's effecting my confidence bigtime :-(

    Scarring after mole removal...?
My dermatologist has been removing alot of moles on my back on legs. One on my back was pre-carcinoma, so he is removing all that look suspicious. The problem is, the sites are not really healing up. I had 2 of them removed about 6 weeks ago, and it looks like I have a hickey where my stitches were. Does anyone know of a way to lessen the red areas, or is this just because I am very fair skinned and I will stay red? The Dr. says it will lessen, but it just seems to be taking along time.

Mole removal on tip of nose?
I have had a mole on the very tip of my nose since i was born, and have seen a plastic surgeon to remove it. He advised me that if i remove the mole it will leave a scar. Now how big is this scar? Will it Heal? does anyone have before and after pictures. Also the surgery is going to be a freeze and scrape.

    • ANSWER:
I had a friend with a HUGE brown spot/mole thing on his nose... whatever he did with it (probably freeze/scrape), it looks so good now. I mean even if there was a scar (not that i've noticed), definitely worth it.

    Mole Removal during summer?
Hello, I want this mole on my face removed. It's quite a big dot 5mm wide, 5mm long and it's black. Can I do it during the summer, will the heat affect the scar from healing? And if my personal doctor doesn't support me on this, who hels can I turn to? I'm turning 15 years old, and my parents have already agreed to remove my mole. Please help!

    • ANSWER:
Sure it will heal even in summer, the only thing you have to is staying out of the sun for a long time.
Heat doesn't effect the healing at all, and I think your doctor will do it if you want to.
So don't stay to long afterwards in the sun, but that's all you have to remember..

I had 2 moles removed on my lower abdomen and they were close to each other. I had to have stitches and it has now been 2 weeks since I had the stitches removed and it is all healed Except it is still very red around the area. Questions About Mole Removal?
I'd prefer it if the people who answered this question actually took the procedure, but if you simply know the answers, it'd be much appreciated.

1.) How long did it take for the scar to heal over?
2.) Is the scar very noticeable?
3.) How long does the area of removal hurt for?

My parents are getting me the procedure over summer break, and I was just wondering because I don't want to go to school with a big raw scar on my face.

    • ANSWER:
I had one removed on my back August 2006.

I still have my scar and it's noticeable. I'm sure there are creams to make it go away, but it doesn't bother me. As far as the length of time it too for it to stop hurting, i really don't remember. But, it all depends on the mole being removed and where it is. The thinner the skin, the closer it is to nerves (like mine...also being under my bra clasp).

Also, if the mole is deep, then they have to take it all out, etc.

I hope that helps. I would ask your doctor if you have more questions.

BTW, just be ready for the local shot to deaden the pain receptors...that part hurt the worst.
